Small swell spots

Got to love those wave magnets that can still throw nuggets on less than a metre swell. Dave and Tweeds hit the road on sunrise and made a bee line for Redgate this morning. Crowd - just us and a pod of dolphins.

The swell was small (about 1 -2 foot) and it was as little overcast and nippy but a bank at the far south end was throwing some nice lefts and the odd right. Tweeds scored the two best waves and included a sweet almond shaped barrel in his man bag of rides.

A quick check of Honeycombs on the way back showed similar size but a bigger crowd.

I hate school holidays

I don't go down south at this time of the year because it is full of holiday groms on their soft boards and young blokes who bring their metro drop in attitude.

The problem with this is that you can miss out on some decent waves. Check out the waves last week in the Coastalwatch feature (click here) or at Epic Swells (click here).

If you were stuck in the 40 degree heat either one will break your heart.
